May 14, 2025 Protesters staged a day of action at Queen’s Park on Wednesday calling for more funding for rural hospitals to maintain full emergency room hours. Caryn Lieberman reports.

From the Ontario Health Coalition:

On Wednesday May 14, more than 140 of us made our way to Queen's Park to pour on as much pressure as possible to stop the closures & cuts to our local hospitals' vital services. We watched as MPPs welcomed us to the Legislature and held the Ford government's feet to the fire during Question Period, we met with the opposition parties, held a press conference that received significant media coverage and ended the day with a visible action at the top of hospital row near Queen's Park.

For those that missed Wednesday's proceedings, scroll down for the video of our press conference, the statements from MPPs in the Legislature and Question Period where they demanded answers from the Health Minister. We have also included a sampling of media coverage we have received, which would not have been possible with all of you.

If anyone took photos and/or if you see any other media coverage, we would appreciate if you send them in to us. Thank you all very much for making the Day of Action a success! The huge group in the Main Legislative Building made an impact and all the pressure on the Ford government will have also made a real impact. It matters, and we are grateful to all of you who helped.

This is 26 of the more than 140 people who came out! We are standing in the West wing of the Main Legislative Building at Queen's Park
